Maybelline New York Great Lash MascaraMaybelline New York Great Lash Mascara

I’ve heard many women giving praise to this mascara for a long time. They claim it gives the fake lashes effect in terms of length and volume. Plus it doesn’t flake, according to them. I think this product is hugely overrated. Not only it didn’t do anything to volumize or lengthen my lashes, it gave me the too natural effect, like I wasn’t wearing any mascara at all. All it did was color my lashes a darker shade, that’s it. This mascara probably makes sense for people who are into “not wearing any makeup” look, but I like my lashes to stand out a bit .

Those who love it claim “out of this world” volume and no flaking.  The huge brush with plastic bristles helps to distribute the product evenly and easily. I experienced some difficulty with the brush though. It gets a lot of product from the tube that just smudges on both upper and lower lids. Also, being quite thick, the brush doesn’t get to the corner lashes at all, which makes it somewhat frustrating. And it flakes. Period. First I thought the tube was old and bought another one, and then one more. After 3 unsuccessful attempts to get a flake-free mascara, I gave up with no regrets.

Few people claim it works all day long, even through a work-out. And it is supposedly LBD friendly, or doesn’t leave white residue on dark clothes. The smell is nice too. I kind of agree with the nice smell part, although prefer unscented versions, so that my deodorant won’t clash with the perfume that I wear at all times. But I’m with the haters camp here too. Not only it didn’t last through half of a summer day, but also left white marks on the dark tees I wore. I wasn’t happy with this product at all.

Chanel Le Vernis Nail ColourChanel Le Vernis Nail Colour

This one looks fancy and is on the expensive side. For 23 bucks it’s not a bargain, but the colors are gorgeous, and it glides on nails effortlessly. So what’s my problem? It chips in a couple of days on my fingers. I heard that it can stay more than a week on somebody else, while it didn’t last that long even on my toes. I feel like it’s not worth the money. I get much more satisfaction with OPI or Essie brands.
