Steal these tips

I’m always on the hunt for some genius little ideas and tricks from either makeup gurus or people like me, who love makeup and are interested in sharpening their application skills. It’s always helpful when you know tricks that either save you time when applying makeup or money when buying beauty products. So in this post I gathered tips I favor the most for all of you to enjoy.

makeup application

  • If you are cautious of germs at the beauty counter, test lipstick on your fingertips instead of applying it on your lips. This is the best way to find out how the color is going to look on your lips.
  • If you are for any reason not a fan of  liquid liner, but still like the look of it, line eyes with shadow. Dip a thin liner brush or a thin pointed lip brush in water, then in any eyeshadow you want, and line your top lids, making the ends curve slightly upwards. You can re-dip the brush as many times as you need to achieve the effect you want. The shadow dries up quickly, and you can correct any mistakes you made along the way with a wet Q-tip.
  • Want to look younger? Wear less makeup.
  • To create big, expressive, to-die-for eyes, apply lengthening mascara first, then follow with volumizing one as a second coat.
  • To make bright nail polish even brighter, apply one coat of opaque white polish first, and then your bright color on top.
  • For foundation to look natural, don’t apply it all over your face, use it only in areas where you think you need to even out skin tone, like around nose and chin.
  • You can erase any mistakes you made during makeup application (like mascara smudges for example) with a Q-tip, dipped in liquid foundation.
  • The simpler and more natural your makeup is, the better it looks.
  • If you are not in the mood to shell out cash for a tinted moisturizer, make your own by mixing liquid foundation with your usual moisturizer. It works and looks exactly the same.
  • Don’t own cream blush? Apply long wearing lipstick on the apples of your cheeks, even better if it has some shimmer to it.
