Ever thought of giving a beauty product as a gift, but then either chickened out or got lost in the amount of ideas and choices? I’ve been there myself. I like giving beauty gifts, but with everybody’s different taste you need to know exactly what you are buying. In lieu of the upcoming Christmas holidays I decided to share my thoughts on how to make beauty gift choices a safe bet.
It’s always easy to buy a gift when you know what a person you are buying it for wants or likes: she/he only uses a certain perfume/cologne, specific bath products, hair styling tools, skincare or makeup products, etc. But if you are buying for somebody like me, who likes trying new things all the time and whose taste changes like the weather in April, you may find yourself in a bit of a trouble. But as they say, there are always two ways out of every situation. And I can share at least one of them.
Gift certificate is always a sure thing, but when you want to show how much you care about somebody, it’s better to come up with something personal. To me, as I’m constantly experimenting with new ideas and looks, the best gift would be a set of beauty products of some sort. I’d be happy with anything – a set of glosses, eye shadows, small-size fragrances, soaps, body lotions, body washes. Anything goes as long as there’s a variety of little bottles to try, because believe it or not, that’s my idea of having fun.
Another way to try and please a person who has seen it all – pay attention to what kind of perfume she likes at the moment and get her a body lotion/body wash set in the same scent. Even when she is long over the fragrance itself, which happens quite often, the body care version is more likely to be used.
I find it very complicated to choose skincare products as gifts, unless I know 100% that it suits the recipient. People usually change creams and lotions according to their skin concerns and seasons, and you may not be aware of what’s going on with them at that particular moment. What I sometimes may do with a relative or a friend is when I find out that they are almost out of some cream they like, I offer to give it as a gift. In this case the mystery part of gift-giving goes out the window, but at the same time the recipient gets exactly what she likes, which is a win-win situation if you ask me.
Good luck everybody and happy holiday shopping!
